The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (and other government agencies) publish research reports and data on how the aged care system is working. Some of these releases are part of a series and updated on a regular basis, usually annually or quarterly. Most of these series are available on the GEN Aged Care Data website.

From November 2025, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission publish an up-to-date list of registered providers under the Aged Care Act 2024 (Provider Register). This is not a GEN access data release but may be useful for researchers and analysts. The Provider Register is updated frequently (up to weekly) and can be downloaded from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission website.

Other government agencies
Other government agencies that collect, produce or report aged care data:
- Department of Health, Disability and Ageing – develops aged care policy, oversees operation of the aged care system, and leads national aged care data and digital strategies.
- Productivity Commission – publishes the annual Report on Government Services, providing performance data on aged care services, including equity, efficiency and effectiveness indicators.
- Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission – collects and reports on complaints, serious incidents and compliance data, produces sector performance reports and supports transparency through regulation of mandatory reporting programs.
- Office of the Inspector-General of Aged Care – monitors systemic issues, reviews implementation of reforms, and publishes independent reports to government on aged care system performance and accountability.
- Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority – collects cost and activity data to develop pricing frameworks for aged care services, conducts costing studies, and provides evidence-based funding advice to government.
